Brentwood Trails Feasibility Study
City of Brentwood, East Contra Costa Irrigation District; East Bay Regional Park District

SFE prepared the Feasibility Study for the conversion of over 26 miles of irrigation lateral right-of-way into a system of interconnected bicycle, pedestrian and equestrian trails.  The project involved close coordination between the City of Brentwood, the East Contra Costa Irrigation District and the East Bay Regional Park District.  The irrigation laterals, which provide water for agricultural uses, form a complex network of right-of-ways that intersect with existing regional trails and public parks.  Included in the Feasibility Study is an inventory of existing conditions and property ownership, the identification of opportunities and constraints, concept alternatives and cost analysis.  The Feasibility Study is the guiding document for trails development as the City of Brentwood transitions from a predominately agricultural community into a suburban city.
