Strawberry Field

Strawberry Field is a sports facility that serves a variety of NCAA and intramural athletic needs.  The site is located directly above Memorial Stadium in a valley that is defined by steep, oak woodlands.  The sloping character of the site is an esthetic asset to the project, but creates grading and facility design challenges.  The design includes turf areas with a sand base and sub-surface drainage system.  The sand fields support turf growth, storm drainage and recovery time, and the development of level or near-level playing surfaces.  The fields receive intense use and remain in excellent condition.  SFE prepared the master plan and construction documents and provided construction administration.

Some of the key features of the Strawberry Field Renovation include: Varsity women’s NCAA softball fields; Sand field drainage system; Disabled custom restroom, concession, and storage facility; Two Varsity men’s practice football fields; Men’s NCAA rugby field; 120 -car parking lot.
